Expansion
Building an extension is a popular alternative to moving when you’re ready to size up house-wise. It can also be a remedy to a living space which doesn’t fit the contemporary lifestyle.
Cramped kitchens which are closed off from the rest of the home are not practical for dinner parties and it’s much more likely that young children will go outside to play if the most used space is connected to the garden.
In a lot of our projects, a glazed extension is often the answer to adding value to a property, connecting rooms and bringing people together.
Huw and Emma’s country home was a beautiful property but didn’t quite fit their lifestyle. Extending and opening the kitchen/dining/living space enabled them to spend more time together as a family, enjoy their amazing views and make full use of their garden.
Glazing
They opted for sliding aluminium doors which offered the widest glass area in order to exhibit the country setting in all its glory.
Underfloor heating meant that the space could be comfortably used all year around.
Bespoke
Along with the bespoke shaker kitchen, we also crafted some storage and shelving for their playroom. In these cases we see the beauty of bespoke joinery since going for this option means that we can tailor the furniture to any awkward room, optimising space.
We also decided to contain the playroom behind a timber door which allowed for undisturbed lego construction and a clutter-free living area.
Interiors
The client requested that we work alongside their wonderful interior designer, Hazel Pierce, who tied together colours and textures to create harmony. We love the pop of colour! The purple accents set off the neutral tones of the grey shaker kitchen and the Welsh countryside.
Thank You
As with all of our projects, it was really important that we deliver a result which embodied the clients personality, tastes and lifestyle, while also being practical.
It was a pleasure to work with the family on their stunning property and we are certain that the space will serve them for many years to come.
